Third largest city in Texas and the centre of the state’s largest metropolitan area, Dallas is a fun filled city with plenty of activities. The city has more shopping centres per capita than any other city in the United States making Dallas a shopper’s haven, some of the best malls being found in the Plano area. Cultural travellers will love some urban exploration in the area with its classic American architecture, while the Sixth Floor Museum shouldn’t be missed; dedicated to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy it is set in the same building from which the shots were fired and is based over two floors. Families visiting the city will not be disappointed with a plethora of places to explore; Dallas World Aquarium makes for a fantastic day out and the unique zoo tour starts at the canopy level of a rain forest and winds down past animals into the aquarium below, while the Dallas Zoo holds over 8,000 types of animal over 97 acres. Also not to be missed are the Zero-Gravity Thrill Rides Amusement Park, the world’s only “Thrill Amusement Park” featuring five different extreme thrill rides and the lesser active, Sandy Lake Amusement Park. For those wanting to escape the city, the White Rock Lake in East Dallas is a beautiful getaway where you can take a peaceful stroll round the lush green park, however the locals will warn you away from hanging round at night as the area is said to be haunted.
